A Tick’s Great Charade- Insights into Lyme Disease

A Tick’s Great Charade

Insights Into Lyme Disease

The media is full of warnings and articles about the dangers of ticks, Lyme disease and all kinds of viruses and infectious diseases. If a person gets caught up in these things, a spirit of fear can be knocking at the door to open that person up to a phobic response. But what does God think about all of this? Is there a place for believers that we don’t need to fear these plagues? Can Lyme disease be completely cured? At Be in Health® we teach the Biblical principles that will not only help you overcome Lyme Disease but will also prevent it from occurring in your life. We would like to share with you some insights into Lyme Disease.

Who is affected?

Not everyone who is bitten by a tick contracts Lyme disease even if the tick is infected with this bacterium. Likewise, not everyone who comes in contact with a virus or other strain of bacteria becomes infected with it.

So what’s the difference? Why do they only affect some people and not others? The answer lies in a person’s immune system. If a person has a compromised immune system, they are far more susceptible to contracting these types of infections.

What may cause a compromised immune system

A healthy immune system is brilliantly designed by our Father and equipped with killer cells that can recognize the antigen marker on an invading organism, target it and destroy it. An immune system can be compromised if even a low level of fear, stress, and anxiety remains present in a person long term. This will trigger the secretion of the hormone cortisol, which will destroy those killer cells and impair a healthy immune response to invaders.

So who is the real enemy then?

At Be in Health®, we know that stress and anxiety are a manifestation of a spirit of Fear. The Word says this:

For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. Ephesians 6:12 KJV

Might we add that we wrestle not against ticks or viruses or any environmental things but against an invisible enemy that wants to separate us from the protective covering of our loving Heavenly Father? This as a classic example of dodge and deflect. The enemy will always try to blame something earthly for our problems so that we won’t recognize him operating in our lives. In this case, he is trying to instill a fear of disease.

What has God given us?

For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind. 2 Timothy 1:7 KJV

Could it be that God’s people are being duped into receiving the consequences of the curse that Jesus our Savior died to deliver us from? What would happen if we grabbed hold of His promises and appropriated His gift from the cross to heal us and to deliver us from the bondage of sin and death?

The benefits that God has prepared for us

Psalm 91 provides us with an excellent example of the benefits of His covering and walking daily in a relationship with Him.

He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. 2 I will say of the LORD, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust. 3 Surely he shall deliver thee from the snare of the fowler, and from the noisome pestilence. 4 He shall cover thee with his feathers, and under his wings shalt thou trust: his truth shall be thy shield and buckler…

9 Because thou hast made the LORD, which is my refuge, even the most High, thy habitation; 10 There shall no evil befall thee, neither shall any plague come nigh thy dwelling. 11 For he shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee in all thy ways. 12 They shall bear thee up in their hands, lest thou dash thy foot against a stone. 13 Thou shalt tread upon the lion and adder: the young lion and the dragon shalt thou trample under feet.

14 Because he hath set his love upon me, therefore will I deliver him: I will set him on high, because he hath known my name. 15 He shall call upon me, and I will answer him: I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him, and honour him. 16 With long life will I satisfy him, and shew him my salvation. Psalm 91:1-16 KJV

What are the conditions to this protection and covering?

Verse 1 and 9 talk about dwelling in the secret place of the most High. That Word “secret” translated from the original Hebrew literally means: a covering, shelter or hiding place. So this is a state of being and belonging. This is a place where we accept once and for all our place as a child of God and find our safe place in Him.

Verses 2 and 4 talks about putting our trust in God and His truth. The Word says that God is not a man that He can lie. We need to make a quality decision and settle in our hearts that we are going to believe what God says in His Word above all else. Doubt and unbelief need to be recognized as our enemy. We need to have a firm foundation with our security established in His absolute truth and love.

Fulfilling the greatest commandment

Verse 14 speaks of us setting our love upon Him. This is the fulfilling of the greatest commandment:

And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: this is the first commandment. And the second is like, namely this, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. There is none other commandment greater than these. Mark 12:30-31 KJV

What can we do?

If we want our immune system to work for us and to serve us in the way God created it to, we need to line our hearts up with His. We need to find that place of peace, acceptance, rest and safety in Him as our Heavenly Father who is greater than anything the enemy would throw at us. We also need to appropriate the power of the Holy Spirit that Jesus gave to us to overcome the enemy in our lives and to remove him.

Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee. Isaiah 26:3 KJV

The heart of the issue

We are not suggesting that you get into your bathing suit and roll in a yard infested with ticks. If you don’t want to be bitten, it’s perfectly okay to use some sort of repellent or take reasonable precautions. What we are looking at here is the heart of the issue:

Don’t let fear overtake you and create a stronghold in your life in any area.

As we walk out of these things, some of us still have a compromised immune system due to the influence of fear, anxiety, and stress in our lives. If you have a lot of allergies or are frequently sick, you may have a compromised immune system and it is wise to take the necessary precautions to protect yourself from what you are afraid of. But our prayer for you is that this won’t become your state of being and surviving, but that you would move forward into the wholeness of life that can only be found in our Heavenly Father’s house. We want to see every one of God’s children thriving, even in a fallen world. Let that be your goal and the deepest desire of your heart.

He will be faithful to gently lead you to that place.

The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want. 2 He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters. 3 He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake. 4 Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. 5 Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over. 6 Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the LORD for ever. Psalm 23:1-6 KJV

Walk in truth

Finally, it’s not the scripture alone that will make this work in your life. The scripture was not intended to be used as a mantra. But rather you need to become one with it and believe it and walk in it.

Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee. Psalm 119:11 KJV

We are all in a process of overcoming and in a journey of becoming more and more who God created us to be. With these principles and the simplicity of the gospel that He has given to us we can walk in wholeness of life in our spirit, soul, and body. God has great plans for each one of us, if we will only trust Him, love Him and walk with Him. It’s really that simple!

Blessings,
