The Godhead created us in Their image, but that beginning has been distorted through the work of iniquity. Through the generations, we have chosen the pattern of the enemy’s identity as an alternative to God’s image. Scripture identifies that it is from glory to glory that we are being changed into His image. Throughout all of Scripture, this changing process is present progressive, not a ‘flash in the pan’ moment of choice. Tweet this!
But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord. – 2 Corinthians 3:18
A believer’s desire to change must be stronger than the iniquity attempting to shape them. How is that possible? Is it possible? Well, God’s image has no fear, hopelessness, depression, etc. Have we lost God’s image along the way?
But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name: – John 1:12 KJV
As believers, the purpose of being born again is so that we could become the sons of God, and thereby establishing His image in creation. Just because we got saved does not mean that we have been proven to be a faithful son to the Father. Is it possible that we have we not pursued the Father to the same degree He has pursued us?
To change to His image, we must have knowledge of the Word of God, and take action according to what we have read and understand. We are called to be not only a hearer of the Word, but a doer as well. How do you start getting back to the true image God created? Take ongoing ownership of your life to receive the power He promises in John 1 to continue the transformation.
- Do inventory of your life against what the Word says to be true about who you are.
- Stop listening to the lies and accusations that the enemy has trained you to believe by making them inferior to the Word of God.
- Pray Romans 12:1-2 that the Father transform you by the renewing of your mind.
- Ask God to renew a right spirit in you as David did in Psalm 51.
Change is a miracle because the Father is joining you to preserve His image in you. This is impossible on your own because of iniquity. God will keep you in perfect peace as long as your mind is fixed on Him as it promises in Isaiah 26:3. The Holy Spirit only uses the Word of God to remind you of who you are, that is why it is so important to study the Word and build that relationship with the whole Godhead. Remind the Father of what He has already said. Please the Father of your spirit by becoming so yielded to His Word that He sees reflections of Himself.
