Your greatest victory is just like what Joshua the high priest experienced in Zechariah 3. You stand there and let the LORD clothe you in righteousness while the devil is at your right hand resisting you all the way.
The LORD Himself was there in Zechariah 3 and personally rebuked Satan. He then put a fair mitre on Joshua's head and clothed him. It was all invisible. Joshua the high priest stood there in victory.
Zechariah 3:1-5 And he shewed me Joshua the high priest standing before the angel of the LORD, and Satan standing at his right hand to resist him. 2 And the LORD said unto Satan, The LORD rebuke thee, O Satan; even the LORD that hath chosen Jerusalem rebuke thee: is not this a brand plucked out of the fire? 3 Now Joshua was clothed with filthy garments, and stood before the angel. 4 And he answered and spake unto those that stood before him, saying, Take away the filthy garments from him. And unto him he said, Behold, I have caused thine iniquity to pass from thee, and I will clothe thee with change of raiment. 5 And I said, Let them set a fair mitre upon his head. So they set a fair mitre upon his head, and clothed him with garments. And the angel of the LORD stood by.
Joshua was not removed from his office as high priest because he had dirty garments. The LORD did not listen to Satan and remove Joshua because he had sin. The LORD cleansed Joshua and released him to be the high priest.
When I started in ministry I had a battle with profanity. For a year and a half I had to struggle through it. I would be ministering healing in the name of Jesus and I would hear in my mind, #%*! Christ. When I was a sinner I had a few choice words, but nothing like I was hearing day after day.
After about six months of this I went before God and said, "You know it's not me. It's not me! It is a fiery dart." It continued round the clock, 24 hours a day. Between every breath would be a vulgar word, no matter what I was doing.
I begged God to take it from me; I did spiritual warfare. I did everything I could think of and it would not leave. One day the Spirit of God rose up in my heart, and I told my enemy this: "Here's the deal. If I have to preach the gospel, heal the sick and cast out devils in the name of Jesus #%*! Christ, I'm going to do it. Every breath I have is going to be for Him, and every breath you have in between will be you. I'm going to serve the living God who called me."
It went on for six more months. Every bit of profanity and vulgarity you could think of would flood my consciousness, but I kept going. That was not who I was. One year and a half later I woke up one morning and it was gone. It has not come back for 20 years. That spirit was timed release to intimidate me and steal the ordination of the living God from my life.
A few years ago someone was really nasty with me. He had some misguided information and said I was just a sinner. He discredited what I was doing in ministry and really hurt my feelings. One day I resolved myself to say to God, "If I'm deceived, not born again, not saved and a sinner, yet I'm out here preaching the gospel and doing all I see in the Word and I'm a fraud, I'm still going to preach the gospel, heal the sick and cast out devils.
Can you go there? When the devil is tearing you apart, making you feel unclean, filthy and unrighteous, can you preach the gospel in your filthiness of mind? When you can stand at this level in victory, you will experience a wonderful peace, the peace that passes all understanding.
God saved you for a reason. I do not care if Satan himself walks in the door with all of his accusation or whatever. You can stand there, look him straight in the eye and tell him you are going to be who God created you to be.
