The farm is nearly complete and operating perfectly. The rationale of the farm is to begin our foothold in Asia. This will lead to a full fledged “Be In Health” Center in Asia. That is the stated and obvious purpose of the farm.
Some very fascinating side effects have developed that I thought those associated with the farm would see as very beneficial.
The farm has provided 6 jobs for members of our church, these jobs provide for improved lives to some of the poorest of the poor. In addition, the families of the members are seeing a better life. It is exciting to see how a regular job with steady income improves lives. In addition to the improved workers lives another bonus has emerged.
In each grow we have a mortality of about 1000 birds. Over 500 birds die of heat stroke, otherwise healthy birds, each growing period. The integrator allows us to clean and dress them and to dispose of them as we wish. We are developing a process of distribution to the poor people in the fishing village next to us.
The first grow we distributed over 500 chickens to almost 300 families. Many of the families had not had chicken for food for more than a year. Some of the children said they had never tasted chicken before in their lives. In one household, we watched as a little girl, picked out all the chicken meat from her rice because she had never had meat with her rice before.
We are going to continue the distribution and expand the reach of the farm. This is done without a cost to the farm or the business.
Wilbert, our lead worker, has seen his family grow in so many ways that they could only dream before this project. His 8 year old boy had never been out of the barrio before. After the first grow Wilbert and his wife Nancy went to Baguio with the kids for the day. They had never seen an escalator, the park at Burnham, eat in a restaurant or even ride a bus.
When we began construction most of the workers arrived at the job site walking 2 or 3 kilometers barefoot. At the end of the construction most of them had footwear and a bicycle, that bicycle represents a great advance for them. Not to mention the improvement in self worth.
Our little church has a heart for the poor people and the improvement in their lives makes every member stronger as we learn to reach out to others.
So God bless all of the loving people who have helped us make this vision a reality.
